Once Cycle Racing (or bike racing) gets into your blood it pretty much never goes away. It's exciting, challenging, hard work, fun, dangerous duh!.

June 30th 1962.

This photo was taken when I was 15, after a Sub-Junior State Championship time trial.

Four and a bit months later I was a Bloody t3 Complete Paraplegic.

My brother Geoff Dwyer kept all the photo's and a small diary that I made during this time. I wrote the following about the State Amateur Sub Junior
5 Mile Sprint Championships.
3 laps City Beach short circuit. 25 riders. Weather slightly wet and windy otherwise perfect.
1st Sprint. No placing. Finished near end of the field.
2nd Sprint. Ran third. Feeling stronger.
3rd Sprint. Ran Second.
Final placings.
1st N.Burton 11pts. 2nd B. Tylor 8pts. 3rd J.Dwyer 4pts.
Note: Did not go well until used head and sat on Taylor then going through field but could not pass Bob (Taylor) before line.
Riding no 5. 77.6 gear.
