We started John Dwyer Marine primarily so that we could buy all the goodies that we used for Mandurah Watersports Hire wholesale. This included life jackets, wetsuits, skis, tubes, flares, radios and that sort of thing. We also had the WA rights to distribute the Parasails we used and Roger Connelly gave us the sole rights to sell Connelly Craft in WA as well. Selling the odd boat now and then was a bonus.

Above photo was in the Daily News 13th May 1988.

The add above appeared in Power Boat Feb/March 1988

Boats we sold included L'Toy 21ft above.

17ft Connelly fitted with a Mercury Outboard.

The 19ft Connelly above was fitted with a Berkley Jet. This boat could do 100kph at 4,100rpm, which is the maximum rpm with a A2 impellor.

The following was taken from The West Australian, August 20th 1988 as a promo for the Burswood International Boat Show.

Sportster for the family.

John Dwyer's eye catching yellow Connelly 2100 is a thoroughbred in anyone's books.

From the pen of one of the most respected names in powerboat design, Roger Connelly, this 21-footer has a designed hull speed of 190kmh.

And that hull is superb.
There is V along  the plane to hold the boat straight, especially when landing in chop.

With it's dual Ride Guide steering, it is extremely comfortable and great fun - a sportster, a ski boat and a dry, family-day boat all rolled into one.

John's personal boat, the 2100 on the John Dwyer Marine stand, has a massive Johnson V8 3.6GT Outboard bolted on the stern. The Outboard kicks out 300hp, costs $22,000 and has the potential to push the boat in it's present form to 140kph.

We easily hit 95kph in bumpy conditions of Mandurah with a 23-inch pitched ski prop.

The basic 21-footer is $12,700 plus trailer. A 175hp Outboard or 200hp Mercruiser
would be ideal for the craft keeping it well inside the hull's vast capabilities.

Connellys hold the World titles for towing speed skiers.

That in itself has proved something of a disadvantage for John. He feels that the 2100 in particular is ideal for the way most of us use our boats - day-tripping.

Firebird is a 2100 Connelly with a blown V8 shown here on the Hawkesbury river where they pull Skiers at over 100mph.
