A Bloody Paraplegic's Story.

The mobile DJ period was an offshoot of the 6AM Radio DJ job. I started doing Weddings, Sports nights, Birthdays and anything that needed some music and someone to chat on the microphone. It also paid reasonably well.

I started off with a couple of basic speakers, 6ch Mixing Desk, 3 cassette decks, a few light boxes and that was it. It looks like a whole lot of junk compared to today's stuff and I cringe a bit looking at it today but I kept getting asked to do shows year after year so it must have been the music!

I would mix the tapes at the Radio Station so would have all the latest stuff as well as the golden oldies. Chuck in a few Barn Dances and pride of Erin's which country people love and we could cover every occasion from Weddings to Footy shows to strip nights.

I continued to do all sorts of shows wile I worked at 6AM an I would like to thank the many people who helped me set up equipment.

I would carry it in the boot of the XB Ford Coupe and when I turned up at a venue it would be unloaded and set up for me and then all stuffed back into the boot when we finished, ready to go again.

The Mobile DJ thing was pretty full on and there weren't many Friday or Saturday nights that I wasn't out playing music at one place or another. I played music in just about every hall within a 100mile radius of Northam when the local sporting clubs would have Fund Raisers or Wind ups or just a Dance.

There aren't many real function centre's in that part of the country so Engagement parties and Weddings were also held in CWA (Country Women Association) halls as well as others.
