My first job.

I left school when I was 15 and went to work at Walsh's Menswear store in Hay street, Perth, selling clothes. This was always going to happen as my Uncle was a floorwalker there.

It was a great job as I got to wear all the best and latest fashions including really pointy winklepickers (shoes) which were the very latest thing at the time. I was at Walsh's when I had my accident.

They kept me on wages the whole time I was in Hospital and I remember Mrs Walsh senior buying me a TV.

I was in Hospital for around a year and a half and while there I learnt to do sign writing and when I got out I went straight back to work in the window display department of Walsh's. I would have been 17 and a half years old.
